Floor kiosks overview
The two shop-floor modes: the Inspector Capture kiosk and the Toolmaker Jobs kiosk. Who lands in them, what they do and how they ride out connection drops.
Shop floors have wifi dead zones, and software that dies with the connection ends up back on paper. VoraSuite ships two purpose-built floor modes: a capture kiosk for quality inspectors at /control/capture/floor and a jobs kiosk for toolmakers at /tool/jobs/floor. Both are big-touch screens made for a tablet at the machine.
The Inspector Capture kiosk
Inspectors pick the part, walk the operation, record samples against the released control plan and see in-spec or out-of-spec instantly. The kiosk shows the loaded characteristics with their limits, so the result of each reading is clear the moment it is entered, even while the connection is down.
The Toolmaker Jobs kiosk
Toolmakers see their own job cards and the open cards for the site. They can pick up a job, start and finish work with a labour timer, take photos as evidence, and hand a job off with a root cause recorded. Everything lands on the same job card records the cockpit uses.
Who lands in a kiosk
Floor mode is derived from permissions, not from a separate setting. A user whose access is capture-only lands in the capture kiosk when they sign in; a user whose access is job-card work only lands in the jobs kiosk. Floor users go straight to their kiosk, with no cockpit and no menus to get lost in. Cockpit users who also hold capture permission get a Floor view toggle, so a supervisor can open the kiosk view and exit back to the cockpit.
Working through connection drops
Both kiosks keep working through wifi drops and dead zones. Entries are kept on the device and sync automatically when the connection returns, carrying who did the work and the true time it happened. The kiosk does need a connection to sign in and to load its working set; after that, it rides out drops. See Troubleshooting kiosk offline sync for the sync states in detail.
To put someone on a kiosk, give their user only the floor permissions for that kiosk in Team at /access/users. A kiosk account should hold access at one site only, so the working set is unambiguous.
