Managing locations

How to set up areas and the storage locations inside them under VoraCore master data, and how those locations are reused wherever records are placed or stored.

Locations are the shared list of areas and storage places for the active site, maintained under VoraCore at /core/master-data/locations. They are reused wherever records are placed or stored, so a storage location named once means the same place across the suite.

Areas and the locations inside them

The register has two levels. An area is a top level place, such as a section of the plant. A location sits inside an area and names a specific storage or working position. Use Add area to create the top level, then open an area and add the locations that belong to it. The register shows how many locations each area holds.

Adding and editing

Add area and Add location open the same style of form: a name, an optional display name and an optional description. Edit reopens the form with the current values. If a save fails, the error shows inside the form with your input intact so you can fix and retry.

Finding and filtering

The search box matches on the location name, display name, description and parent area. The filter switches between active, archived and all records, so retired locations stay out of the way without being lost.

Archiving instead of deleting

Locations are archived, not deleted. Archiving removes a location from active pick lists while any records that referenced it keep their history. You can restore an archived location later if the place comes back into use.

Scoped to the active site

Locations belong to the site you are working in. Switching site in the topbar switches the location list along with the rest of the workspace.
