Managing master data and parts
How to maintain customers, parts, part revisions, work centres, operations and locations in VoraCore master data, and how those records feed the rest of the suite.
Master data is the set of shared records the whole suite reuses: customers, parts and their revisions, work centres, operations and locations. You maintain them under VoraCore at /core/master-data, where each area has its own card. A record is managed once and then reused wherever the current company and site allow it.
The master data areas
- Customers: customer names and details used across parts, operations, control plans and tooling records.
- Parts: part records, images, customer references and the current revision used by product workflows.
- Work Centres: the shopfloor areas and process families used when building part operation routes.
- Operations: the operation sequence for each part, so VoraControl and VoraTool use the same route structure.
- Locations: the shared areas and storage locations for the active site, reused wherever records are placed or stored.
Working with parts and revisions
Open Parts to add or edit a part record. Each part belongs to a customer and carries its own revision history, and the current revision is the one product workflows pick up. When a part changes, you record the new revision rather than overwriting the old one, so the history of the part stays intact and reportable.
How master data feeds control plans and tooling
VoraControl builds control plans against a part, its revision and its operation route, so the route you maintain under Operations is the same spine the control plan follows. VoraTool links tooling records and job cards to the same parts and operations. Keeping master data clean here keeps every downstream register consistent.
Tracking changes
Changes to master data are logged and surface on the VoraCore home page under Recent core changes. The Revision History report at /core/reports lists master data revision history grouped by customer and part.
Creating, editing and archiving master data requires the master data manage permission. Users without it can still view records where their access allows.
