Managing critical spares
How to manage bought-out and manufactured spares: minimum levels, stock movements in and out, links to the tooling that uses each spare, and below-minimum flags.
The spares register lives at /tool/spares and controls bought-out and manufactured tooling spares: stock levels, movements, raw material processing and the links to the tooling each spare is fitted to.
The register
Spares are grouped by customer, then by internal part number where the spare is linked to tooling. Each row shows the spare code, description, stock status, available quantity and minimum. Open a spare to work from its tabbed modal, or use Add spare to create one.
Minimum levels and stock flags
Each spare carries a minimum quantity. As ready stock runs down, the stock status changes: statuses such as Below minimum and Limited coverage show as warnings, and Zero stock and No cover show as danger. The same flags drive the spares risk signal on the VoraTool home page and the Spares Risk report.
Recording movements
Use Record movement on a spare to book stock in or out. A movement takes a quantity, a reason from the movement reason list and an optional note. Movements can also be linked to the tooling the spare is fitted to, and optionally to an open job card for that tooling, so spare usage lands in the story of the job and the tool. The full movement history is available under /tool/spares/movements.
Manufactured spares and raw material
Bought-out spares use stock minimum levels and movement history. Manufactured spares add replenishment settings: a yield per piece converts received raw material into spares, and the modal shows Available, Not processed and Overall quantities. Set the yield on the Replenishment tab before receiving raw material, so it can be converted to spares.
Spares are linked to the tooling that uses them. From the tooling detail modal, the Spares tab opens the tooling spare list, and each link records the quantity used on the tooling and a position note.
