Tooling records and history
How to work the tooling register at /tool/tooling: create and edit tooling records, assign operations for part context, and read the connected history of each tool.
The tooling register is the backbone of VoraTool. It lives at /tool/tooling and holds every production tool and fixture, its status and condition, and the operation it serves. This guide covers creating and reading tooling records, and where the connected history of a tool comes from.
The register at a glance
The register page opens with four counts: Active tooling, Needs attention, No operation and Archived. Rows load expanded so you see your records immediately, and opening a row shows a tabbed detail modal with Overview, Workflow, Spares and History tabs.
Operation-led part context
A tooling record is assigned to an operation, and the operation derives the part context: customer, internal part number, customer part number, revision and OEM part number. A tool without an operation shows a No operation chip; assign one on the Workflow tab to derive its part context. Operations themselves are set up in VoraCore master data.
What a tooling record holds
- Tooling code, name, class and location
- Status, criticality and condition, shown as chips on the record
- Ownership plus customer tooling, customer order and OEM tooling numbers
- PSW date and the produced-parts counter
- Description, notes and change notes on each save
Counters and history
The Workflow tab updates the produced-parts counter with a counter note, and the History tab shows the latest status and location changes and the latest counter readings, each timestamped with the note that was recorded. Beyond that tab, the connected history builds up as the work happens: job cards raised for the tool, scheduled maintenance jobs completed against it, and spare movements linked to it. VoraAudit answers the full tooling history question from those records, ready to review or print.
Anyone with VoraTool access can view the register. Changing workflow fields, updating counters and archiving or restoring tooling needs the tooling management permission. Archiving a tool retains its history, job cards and evidence references.
