Working with job cards

How to raise a job card for a repair or service, assign an owner, move it through its statuses, record the cause and action at hand-off, and close it into service history.

Job cards run breakdown and repair work in VoraTool from request to closed service history. The register lives at /tool/job-cards, with menu views for the requested, active and external repair queues, and every job opens into a tabbed detail modal where the work is recorded.

Raising a job card

Create a job card by picking the tooling first; the operation of the tool sets the customer and part. Then choose the work type and urgency, pick the fault or repair need and the production impact from the site lists, optionally record downtime minutes and initial photos, and add a requester note. Press Create job card to raise it.

Owning and working the job

Each job card carries an assignment. Use the Assignment panel to set who the job is assigned to, with an assignment note, and use the Manual status panel when a status needs to be set directly. As work happens, record labour entries and attach evidence from the Work and evidence tab. The register shows a suggested next step under each status, for example Assign and approve the request on a requested job, or Record work, evidence and cause/action on a job in progress.

The job card statuses

  • Requested: raised and waiting to be assigned and approved
  • Approved: ready to start work or record labour
  • In progress and Waiting: active work, or work blocked on something
  • External repair: with a supplier, dispatch and return recorded
  • Ready for tryout and Awaiting release: repair done, tryout and release decision pending
  • Closed and Cancelled: finished history

Cause, action and outcome at hand-off

Before a repair hands off, record the root cause, the corrective action and the outcome in the Cause, action and outcome form. Some root cause choices require a written root cause note, and some action and outcome combinations require an action note. The register flags a job as Cause/action missing until the set is complete, so the service history keeps the why, not just the when.

Closing the job

A closed job card becomes the service history of the tool: the labour, evidence, cause and outcome records stay attributed and timestamped. Closed work feeds the Repeat Breakdowns report and the tooling history answers in VoraAudit without any extra filing.
